Criteria for Membership
The 100 Black Men of Central Ohio hosts orientation and information gathering sessions throughout the year for men that are interested in membership with our organization. Our next session is scheduled to occur on October 15. During 2010, we plan to host new member recruitment receptions in January, April, July, and October.
- Persons interested in becoming a member must satisfy the following criteria:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
- Must be identified by a current 100 member as a person who has the desire to provide their time, talents and other resources in furtherance of the objectives and programs of the 100 Black Men of Central Ohio, Inc. and to engage in community service.
- Must have satisfactory results from a criminal background check.
- Must pay the applicable membership dues.
We strongly recommend that all prospective members attend a 100 Black Men orientation and information session in order to best understand our objectives and programs and to have all of your questions and concerns addressed.
Membership Types
A. Active Membership
A person that has an “active” membership is a member who is actively involved with the programs of the chapter, serves on one or more committees and regularly attends meetings. Dues for an “active” membership are $250.00. Each active member is required to comply with the following during each calendar year:
- Contribute at least forty (40) volunteer hours (or a pro-rata portion) in furtherance of 100 programs and objectives.
- Actively serve on at least one (1) committee

- Actively support at least one (1) of our community service partners
- Participate in at least one General Body meeting per quarter
Each active member will be required to deliver all documentation to the Membership Committee that is deemed necessary or appropriate to validate compliance with such membership requirements.
B. Supporting Membership
A person who has a “supporting” membership is a member who financially supports the Chapter, but is currently unable to devote sufficient time to mentoring, community service and/or committee work. “Supporting Members” are exempt from the “active” membership requirements and are only required to meet the following criteria:
- Participate in at least one major event
- Serve as a resource for the Chapter
Dues for a “supporting” membership are $500.00. Supporting memberships are only granted by the Executive Committee.
