Each active member of the 100 is required to engage in regular community service with one or more of our community service partners - Faith Mission, New Salem Baptist Church Food Pantry or the YWCA Family Center. Each of these community partners were selected because they provide direct services to individuals and families in need - food and shelter.
The following is a summary of the community service performed at each location and the date and time of the community service commitment:
FAITH MISSION - 315 East Long Street:
Faith Mission is known by many as not only a place for a hot meal and a warm bed, but a haven of hope as well. Since 1966, Faith Mission has served the homeless community by offering a secure, Christian-based environment for homeless men and women on an emergency walk-in basis. The agency provides shelter, food and clothing, while helping individuals with access to longer term solutions such as housing, employment assistance, medical, dental and vision care, counseling and support groups.
We support Faith Mission by assisting with the serving of the dinner meal on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
NEW SALEM BAPTIST CHURCH "BREAD OF LIFE" FOOD PANTRY -
The New Salem Baptist Church's "Bread of Life" Food Pantry is recognized as one of the more prolific pantries in Central Ohio as last year it served over 40,000 meals. It is open every weekday evening.
We support the "Breadth of Life" Food Pantry by assisting in the cleaning, sorting and packaging of canned goods, dry goods and other miscellaneous items.
YWCA FAMILY CENTER - 900 Harvey Court
The YWCA Family Center serves as the "front door" for homeless families, providing emergency services and basic needs to any family in housing crisis. Emergency services provided include intake, food, shelter, access to transportation, case management, childcare, laundry, and shower facilities.
We support the YWCA Family Center by assisting in the serving of lunch on the 2nd Sunday of each month to the men, women and children that are residents.
If you are interested in joining the 100 on one or more of these community service events, please contact us at volunteer@100bmco.org.
